Who we are

Wilbanks Ranch is divided into two separate ranches.  The main headquarters is in Callahan County, Texas.  The Wilbanks Ranch was established in 1944 by Ray and Faye Wilbanks.  Faye’s family settled in this territory in 1867 and ran cattle open range for years.  Additional land was purchased in the 1970’s and land was added in Coleman County, Texas in 2003.

The ranches have been historically working cattle ranches.  While cattle are important to the ranches, wildlife has become the main focus in the management of the ranch.  The ranch has actively managed its deer, turkey, and quail for the past 14 years.  We feed protein all year and plant food plots to supplement the diets of the wildlife.  We have been involved with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Managed Lands Program for several years and have followed the recommended harvest rates for this land.  We only harvest mature deer and cull deer when we see the need.  The management program has had a very positive effect for the turkey and quail populations as well.  The bobwhite quail population has remained very strong on both ranches.
